Oh my goodness. I get asked so many times should a women
who is pregnant continue exercising or start up an exercise

The answer to both questions is – YES.

A mother and baby will BOTH benefit from a regular exercise
program. A program that is done three (3) times a week,
not 2 or 4, but 3 times a week has been shown to be the
best and most productive.

The program can consist of aerobics (low impact), weight
resistance training, and stretching. Wow, you mean an
expectant mother shouldn’t lay on the couch and gain 70
pounds and then deliver a 7 pound baby and now deal with
the extra 50 pounds of fat she gained sitting on her butt
and eating unhealthy foods that did her and her baby no

Well revelation! Sorry for the cynical attitude but it drives
me crazy when a women gets pregnant and throws all logic
out the window. They will not feed their children the crap that
they eat when pregnant, but don’t realize that is exactly what
they are doing when they eat like this. Remember ladies what
ever you eat your baby eats.

There is a great article that Dr. Mercola just published on this
and I want all of you women, so you can help your lady friends,
to read this and get informed.

Here is the article:

So eat for two and exercise for two!

How many times have Randy & I heard that over the last
30 years? More than I can count that’s for sure.

Read that title again out loud and see how dumb that
sounds. I mean you have time for Oprah, you have
time for talking on the phone, you have time running
errands that really don’t need to be run. You also know
that you will not get everything done today because
you don’t have the time and actually waste time. So
how in the world can you exercise? Better yet, why
would you even consider taking the time to do so?

What you should be saying is I don’t have time NOT
to be healthy. Did you know the most successful and
highest paid CEOs. You know the people who shake
hands with presidents and kings, the people who
work more in a week than most do in a month.
Yea those people. The ones who don’t take phone
calls or let people intrude on their time because they
are worth millions per hour. Well obviously they don’t
have time to exercise, right? WRONG!

These CEOs will block out an average of 30 minutes every
morning or early afternoon for their exercise. Why do they
take their valuable and precious time to do this? Because
they know if they spend this time exercising they will
energize their brain, body, and metabolism and get more
done in the next part of the day than you would in a week.
They have to be on their “A” game at all times. I mean one
slip could mean millions. They must be productive and get
things done, or they will be replaced. This is why they
Now back to you. What was your excuse again about
not having time to be healthy?

Studies show that being happy keeps you thin!

The hormone serotonin reduces your appetite and
directly affects your body to either burn fat or store
fat. Serotonin is called your good-mood hormone.

Boost your levels by exercise, high fiber/low glycemic
carbs (our friend oatmeal), good fats, and how about
some folic acid (spinach).

And if you want to know the most important 2 meals
to eat to help you succeed check out Randy’s latest

to losing fat and gaing lean muscle.

Awesome Pancakes You Can Eat

August 9th, 2009

I love breakfast. I mean I go to bed at night just so I can
get up for breakfast.
I just love to sit down, relax, and start the day with breakfast.
Man, I love breakfast.

Well we know this is the most important meal of the day – it starts
us off with energy, and it puts protein in our bodies so we are in
an anabolic state instead of a catabolic if we don’t eat.

One of my favorite hot meals is pancakes. Yes pancakes.
Not your flour, grease, and butter ones. Oh no grasshopper.

Here is my recipe for my healthy, stomach sticking, awesome
hot cakes.

In a mixing bowl combine 1 cup oatmeal( I have blended oatmeal first),
1 cup blueberries, and 1/1/2 scoops vanilla protein powder,
2 egg whites, and a table spoon of yogurt.

Stir this up and pour onto a hot pan that has been sprayed with
a small amount of non-stick spray. Cook 2-3 minutes on one side
and flip and cook 2 minutes other side.

Put on your plate and use a “simply fruit” preserves to spread on
top. (Randy uses natural peanut butter).

I have also used pineapple for the fruit and it is awesome also.

Give this a try and let me know how you like them.

And if you have any healthy recipes to share please do so as
we have many people world wide looking for healthy alternatives
to eat.

We are all in a rush some days. I try to always
sit down and eat my breakfast, but some days
I have to hurry out the door if one of our 5 dogs
isn’t cooperating.

On those days I, and you, always have time to
still have a complete nutritious breakfast.
A necessity, and for me I go into teaching boot camp
and group class as soon as I get to the Better Life
Fitness Center so I know this recipe will take care of you.

How you ask can you possibly have a good breakfast
and get out the door. Well I am glad you asked and
here is what I do.

6 ounces favorite juice
11/2 scoop whey protein (vanilla)
1/2 cup oatmeal (old style-not cooked)
1/2 piece fruit
1 teaspoon natural peanut butter
4 ounce ice water
1 scoop ice cubes

Put juice in blender turn on low
Add protein
Turn up a little
Add fruit
Add water
Add oatmeal
Add peanut butter
Add water
Add ice (have lid on and put ice in fast and get lid back on
Crank it up high and blend to consistency you desire.

This is better than ANY instant breakfast package you can
buy at a store. Move over Carnation, Brenda is here.

You are starting the day with protein, fiber, complex carbs,
essential fats, and fruit with it’s nutrients and antioxidants.

No cooking, no waiting, pour in your travel mug and hit the
door and get on down the road.

Enjoy and if you have any creations you would like to share
with our readers please do so and bless us.

Insulin is one of our major hormones. We all know the
seriousness of high insulin as it relates to diabetes.
Most of us eat always pushing our body to cope with
this. You know-pasta, potatoes, bread, white rice,
too much fruit. Eating these foods puts your body at
Insulin has big effects on aging–got your attention
now ladies?
We don’t want low insulin levels either, again not eating
But let’s deal with high insulin levels right now. This can cause:
*high blood pressure
*accelerated aging
*bad immune system
*ankle swelling
*burning feet
*bad memory or focus
*irregular periods
*sugar cravings
*weight gain – especially belly fat
Listen up, high insulin can cause your body to take your estrogen
production down. So now you have a low estrogen and high
insulin and your body will begin to alter it’s shape, causing
unhealthy weight gain, which then can lead to high blood
pressure, heart disease and and more hormone imbalance in
your body.

So, get right on your eating and exercise, and live a long and
healthy life. Oh, and aging gracefully is sure nice too.

I am really enjoying my summer. It is a beautiful time of the year
that I love being outside and working in the yard and soaking up
that awesome sun. I fee so good when I am getting sunshine on
me (must be the vitamin D and serotonin) and getting my hands
all dirty (minerals absorbed?). But I do love it.

My husband Randy just laughs and enjoys seeing me get all dirty
and smile from ear to ear.

I hope you have the energy and vibrancy to be outside this summer
and enjoy the weather as much as I do.

I must say we are using our grill a lot this year. And we love eating
healthy. This is one of the reasons I have so much energy and can
go all day. People often marvel at my pace I keep, but I believe if
they ate as well as me and exercised, they too would reach a new
level of energy and endurance.

But I will say the mind and mental attitude has a lot to do with me
also. I do not harbor negative thoughts, I am always positive, and I
am one who has very high faith. Randy class me his faith warrior.

So get outside, get a smile on, and grill some salmon. Or grill up a nice
chicken breast and some vegetables. Ohhh, how about some turkey
burgers I wrote about a week or so age. Now those are awesome.

Oh man did i get a lot of great feedback on that great
tasting turkey burger. And if you haven’t tried it yet
break out that grill and get busy.
Well one of mine and Randy’s favorite side dishes is
mashed potatoes. Well Randy is one who uses his
special ketogenic diet a lot, especially when he wants
to drop fat fast. So potatoes are off the list of foods
we can eat. So there goes our mashed potatoes.

Well I have a recipe for “mashed potatoes” for those
of us who are watching calories and/or watching
carbs. It is really delicious and you have to try it.

Mashed Cauliflower.

Cauliflower- steam or microwave till tender (don’t boil for this)
Mash or food processor with 1 tbsp butter, 4oz cream cheese,
till fluffy like mashed potatoes- serve as is or add turkey
bacon bits and onion powder.

You can place in oven safe dish, cover with cheese and bake
at 350 for 20 min or so for twice baked “Fuax -Tatoes”

If you do a good job on the mash no one will know the difference!
This re-heats for left overs better than potatoes which is a bonus.

Try this and let me know what you think. I know you will be glad
you did as they are great. And low in calories and carbs.

All right, as we celebrate our freedom and honor
